gmail-notify: not broken!

March 31, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Haha.. Good thing I tried returning to my post on Ubuntu Forums about my previous problem and was shocked after learning from this thread that the gmail-notify app was still functional! Amazing! From what I have read, the culprit was from Google's side and not the applet!

Now, it's time to uninstall my Firefox extension for Gmail! Wee!

Mysteries of March

March 29, 2006 · 3 Comments

Well, I believe in miracles.. but mysteries? Nah.

2-3 days ago, I was surprised upon seeing this pop-up applet from my Ubuntu panel:

Gmail Notifier Failure

This came out after my desktop booted completely. At first, I thought it was only an internet connection problem (because the applet came out first before I have opened a browser) but it was not the culprit. I have already tried changing my authentication values but it was still a failure. So I tried going to its website instead and found out that Gmail had changed its protocol. Well, it's obviously very disappointing to lose such a great app.

Care for another mystery?

I was trying to register in the iBlog site but it was a failure. Actually, I have forwarded an email that I have received before (because I had attended the 1st summit) containing the details to where/which/how/etc., to all of my friends and/or organizations. I was hoping to be the 29-30th person to have registered in there but it was very unsuccessful. I had even tried posting a comment in there but still, it was kinda hopeless. I guess that the registration service only allows unique IPs for each registrant. But somehow, it was still weird because I have already tried registering from different places (and even different e-mails) but it was still hopeless.

Oh well..

Webmail Lag

March 22, 2006 · 3 Comments

About 6 hours ago, I was bloghopping and I found this Free T-shirt link at the Jedi Masters‘ blog. I signed my university webmail as my e-mail there (instead of any other account I have) but it felt like nothing happened – like there was no transaction at all! I tried to register my .Mac account instead and the confirmation e-mail arrived in an instant! At last, after 6 hours from that time (minutes ago), the first transaction arrived at my university webmail account – but this was after validating my second transaction.

Well, I hope that there’ll be a workaround on this webmail problem…

Hell March

March 22, 2006 · Leave a Comment

The title might be familiar to some Westwood gamers out there but no, the topic is about the hellish month of March. I have secured my hands from the carpal tunnel syndrome (due to long massive sleepless nights of encoding stuffs) with the help of this creature:

Squeezy Duke

Also, I have updated already my ToDo list. Well, I’m going to leave for now to resume on my remaining requirements for the rest of the week. I’ve had enough of group projects.

Murphy’s Law

March 17, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I have just learned this from a friend: “Anything that can possibly go wrong will go wrong and at the worst possible time.” And this had started after receiving all of the stuffs that were listed in my previous post. The examples at the wiki site were also true (based from experiences) like the usage of floppies in some of my subjects that require presentations. (I use USB disks instead or make my presentation accessible on the Internet for everyone to download).

Highways and Accidents

March 17, 2006 · 2 Comments

Right now, I’m still waiting for some of my groupmates to send me their deliverables so that I can start (and finish) the final presentations as soon as possible. Here’s a preview of the set:

Commonwealth Avenue

Now, try to imagine how much wider (and more dangerous) it will get after a series of road widenings and expansions where the vehicles that pass by move like this:

Commonwealth Avenue

I have just received an email that contained pictures (gross!) about a bus accident (?) somewhere in Ayala. It looks like a lot of people don’t know how to practice self-discipline and common sense nowadays. In fact, the (re)construction of this (Commonwealth Avenue) big highway is too crazy to monitor as time goes by. Why? Actually, the old setup of the aisles (a decade ago) was a lot better (and cheaper) than redesigning them like closing some strategic intersections and opening dumb places just for the sake of U-turns. Oh well..

Development with Mac OS X

March 15, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Well, there were a lot of tools discussed on the seminar a while ago but I guess that Shark was the one that really caught my attention especially at the part where it traces a Java app.

Now, if I only have the money to get an iBook (or Powerbook).. or if Shark runs on Linux too.. Hmm..
