Last Saturday was *somewhat* a blast – I was in the Fusion Convention that was held at the DLSU-Taft. The event featured (iirc):
- a PhilNITS Talk (where one of my orgmates almost won at the raffle part, eek!)
- a Wireless Technology Talk (where I got bored because it’s like stock knowledge from one of my trainings/electives)
- a 3D Modelling Talk (where it was already past lunch and everyone’s very hungry)
- a “WolfPac Talk” (the first to use a Macbook in the convention)
- an Open Source Talk delivered by Adrian Co and his team from Exist, a software company that strongly supports Java Technology and the open source community in the Philippines (yeah, I forgot to ask them about their views on Java now Open Source)
- a Podcast Talk with an introduction to Apple in Education presented by Sarah Lumang (just like the Apple Roadshow we had last year)
- (and lastly) a NLP Talk that featured researches in natural language processing.
For pictures, just stay tuned at Compute. Compile. Compete., the official blog of the ACM Student Chapter of the University of the Philippines or just visit its Flickr site.
On a side note, it’s just weird that there was no announcement or publicity of this event on the Internet. Or perhaps it’s due to the event’s limitations? Well, I wasn’t able to attend the Blog Parteeh of the same day. *sigh*

Sometimes you really need to think twice before doing things..Take a look at this one:
This was posted on a comfort room’s door of one of the offices in the campus. Where? Secret! So who’s the thing? Or maybe the writer’s name was Thing You!?! Haha! I thought my eyes were just blurry but a friend of mine verified and captured it using a cameraphone. Finders keepers? *grin*

Now here’s the list (a hitlist?) that had hit me on the start of the month:
1. WordPress Security Hole – vulnerability? Does this mean that PHP (being WordPress’s platform) is so easy to learn that made it easy to be cracked? On the lighter side, it was fixed right away on its 2.0.6 release.
2. Smith = Garci issue? Oops, nothing really new here. Expect more bad comparisons to come. Not only such things but also more violence in the streets – rallyists shouting here and there rejecting everything yet they don’t even have proposals to suggest (like simply saying “NO” instead of saying “NO, but “). I don’t believe in surveys for I always imagine surveys being made in very biased places. Such surveys are just a preview of the big picture, they don’t necessarily represent the whole thing. Expect more political killings too. Argh! When will they ever learn?!
3. Ederlyn – Is she familiar to you? Maybe this is a sign of alien invasion. It kinda reminded me of the phenomenon with Death Note’s character, Kira.
4. Microsoft support & troubleshooting? Unbelievable! Are those utilities really effective? Is the Help utility helpful? Nah, I’m more curious on DieHard.
5. I’m not fond of making predictions but some people’s un-predictions and predictions are weird but true.
So are these news new at all?
